Where every kick takes you closer to greatness

Sharpeville Rhinos Sports Club was formed in 1995 and was originally named, Real Benfica. It was subsequently changed to Sharpeville Benfica, and in 2023 after partnering with Blackheath Rhinos from the UK, it was changed to Sharpeville Rhinos.

Practice makes perfect. we make it even better

The club is located in the Sharpeville township and has long served as a breeding ground for talented kids to improve their football skills while also providing a place to socialize. The club’s development structures extend across the under-8 to under-17 level. The club is proud to offer South African Football Association (SAFA) and CAF licensed coaches, some of whom are former club players.

Train harder, play smarter, shine brighter

The Sharpeville Rhinos Sports Club is one of the oldest and most reputable sporting institutions in Sharpeville. The club is passionate about nurturing sporting talent and fostering a love for football in our community, producing exceptional players over the decades.

At Sharpeville Rhinos, our dedicated coaches and volunteers are the backbone of the club, providing the mentorship and support our players need to thrive.

We provide players and parents with the resources they need to succeed both on and off the field because we understand that success extends beyond the game.

The collaboration between the Blackheath Rhinos and the Sharpeville Rhinos is a wonderful example of community and support.

The majority of our 50+ players are from less-fortunate backgrounds and poor communities in the Vaal Triangle region, namely Sebokeng, Boipatong, Tshepiso, Bophelong, and Vereeniging.

It is a challenge for the club to cover their basic needs such as soccer boots, affiliation fees, nutritional meals, and transport to and from training and matches. The gravel field which the club currently uses for training is maintained by volunteer community members and parents.

The club sustains itself through the prize monies it receives from winning small local tournaments, individual donations from willing people, and now through it’s partnership with Blackhealth Rhinos.

Without this valuable financial aid, the club is able to meet it’s basic needs, but more help is always needed and appreciated. The Blackheath Rhinos are proud partners with the Sharpeville Rhinos Football Club.
